Recruitment Report 2025: Roadshow and Open Day boost talent towards DouroAzul’s future

Throughout January, DouroAzul conducted a series of recruitment initiatives aimed at meeting the increasing demands of its operations while reinforcing its commitment to attracting and valuing talent. Under the theme “The New Journey: Commitment to People, Communities, and Sustainability”, these actions proved to be a strategic channel for identifying and integrating new professionals in an ever-evolving industry.

Roadshow DouroAzul: Engaging with Local Communities

From January 13th to 17th, DouroAzul, in collaboration with various municipalities, toured five cities in northern Portugal (Viana do Castelo, Lamego, Viseu, Guarda, and Vila Real). This initiative facilitated direct contact between candidates and the recruitment team, not only showcasing available career opportunities but also strengthening ties with local communities.

The Roadshow’s figures reflect its impact:

  • Five cities visited, promoting a decentralized recruitment process;
  • 15 DouroAzul professionals actively engaged in the initiative;
  • Over 1,090 participants, demonstrating strong interest and engagement from candidates.

The experience was widely regarded as positive by DouroAzul employees involved, who highlighted the enthusiasm of participants and the high quality of the applicants. “Each city revealed promising talent and highly motivated professionals eager to join our team,” noted one of the event’s organizers.

Open Day: DouroAzul’s main recruitment event

Concluding this cycle of initiatives, DouroAzul hosted the 8th edition of its Open Day, the company’s largest recruitment event, from January 21st to 24th. Over four days, two ships from the fleet were open to the public, offering an immersive experience into the world of river cruise tourism.

Candidates had the opportunity to explore the facilities, interact with the crew, and gain an in-depth understanding of how a river cruise ship operates. For many, the event was not just a learning experience but also a gateway to a new professional journey. By the end of the Open Day, several participants had formalized their contracts and secured a spot in the crew for the upcoming season.

The teams involved emphasized the significance of this initiative:

Patrícia Nunes: “The quality of candidates has been steadily increasing. It is rewarding to meet such motivated individuals committed to the challenge of working onboard.”

Rodrigo Mendes: “It was a demanding but incredibly enriching process. We identified highly qualified professionals eager to contribute to DouroAzul’s success.”

Commitment to excellence and professional development

These initiatives reaffirm DouroAzul’s strategic role in creating job opportunities and fostering the socioeconomic development of the regions in which it operates. The results of both the Roadshow and Open Day have been overwhelmingly positive, setting the stage for a promising 2025 season for the Douro river cruise sector.

DouroAzul remains committed to recognizing talent and driving innovation in river tourism. For those aspiring to join a leading team, the company extends an open invitation to future recruitment events, which are always announced on its official social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook ,and Instagram.
