Douro Azul recruits 250 people in Viseu, Guarda, and Lamego for river cruise ships
Celebrating 30 years of activity, Douro Azul, Portugal’s leading river cruise company, will organize a recruitment roadshow from January 10th to 12th in various municipalities of the Douro region, in cooperation with the municipalities of Lamego, Guarda, and Viseu. The goal is to recruit 250 employees for the 2023 cruise season.
Under the theme “The New Journey: Commitment to people, communities, and sustainability,” this recruitment initiative also involves collaboration with local branches of the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP). The Douro Azul team will visit these municipalities to conduct information and recruitment sessions with candidates interested in working on Douro Azul’s river cruise ships.
“The initiative of Douro Azul, reaching out to people, is part of the company’s social responsibility process towards the regions where it operates, contributing to the socio-economic development of the Douro,” explains the company in a statement.
Another initiative scheduled by the company is the sixth edition of Douro Azul’s Open Day, from January 16th to 21st, which will allow students and professionals in the hotel and restaurant industry to learn about working aboard a river cruise ship through a visit to one of the company’s fleet ships.
In addition to these initiatives, Douro Azul will launch, starting January 24th, a series of free masterclasses and workshops with renowned experts in the hospitality, tourism, and restaurant industry. This action is aimed at professionals currently working or unemployed who want to improve their technical knowledge. Featured topics will include sustainability and the use of local products.
Founded in 1993, Douro Azul is part of the MysticInvest holding and is currently the largest river cruise operator in Portugal, with a fleet of 11 luxury river cruise ships operating on the Douro River route between Porto and Barca D’Alva,” the company reports in the same note. It also adds that in 2021, it reinforced its status as a leader in the river cruise segment internationally “by being awarded for the sixth time as Europe’s Leading River Cruise Company by the prestigious World Travel Awards.”
